Company History
AirMaine was the brainchild of Jeff Beebe, President of CompuNET Incorporated. Years before DSL and Cable internet became available in the Oxford Hills area of Western Maine, Jeff and CompuNET built a wireless backbone to connect area businesses to the T1 CompuNET used for Internet access and web hosting. At a time when 56K dial-up connections were the only option this option provided businesses with the access they needed to move into or tap the Internet market.
Although the business was a success for a few years the addition of lower cost alternatives spelled the end of the business. Expanding to areas not serviced by DSL and Cable would prove to be too costly to move out of the downtown areas. We decided it was time to move on.
